New Sniper

I started a sketch at lunch, to get back into pencil drawing because I find this helps my digital painting draftsmanship in the long run, at least for me if I paint this now, I have a stronger design to work from than just straight ahead painting a character concept. I tweaked the sketch with the burn and dodge tool to bring out the line quality and shading.

In the grand scheme of things, next year is 4th year and I want to have a portfolio ready for the video game industry, tho the portfolio will be 3D character animation driven, I want to back it up with design.

A texture portrait of a soldier, I wanted to do a study of a face so I used a photograph as reference.

Third Year Film Backgroundss

This layout was drawn by the fantastic Mr. Chris, I did the underneath it, this layout was the most fun to paint.


Also this layout's foreground was penciled by Mr. Chris.

So yeah this year was quite the experience. I learned a lot about the group dynamic and about layout painting. The film's layout style was developed by me and Leon, whom, if you liked my stuff you should definitely see his because I was learning from him. Third year has helped me get friendlier with Adobe and has prepared me for 4th year where I will make a very layout heavy and dark film.

Dishboy

This is a character from my group's third year film, Dee did this awesome sketch and I just painted him. We all joked about how funny he would look in real life. :)

Colour fun

Painting the majority of the day with Leon, makes you want to paint more.

Firefall

Inspired by the really cool place, Horsetail Firefall in California, google it! The real place doesn't really have lava but I thought it would be neat if it was a lava fall coming out of the top.
